Teen Training Program
The Fort has a history of training teens for future service and ministry. Trainees are discipled by Team Leaders who teach Biblical principles and model leadership qualities. Each training program requires a separate application. Preference is given to applicants with great references and past Fort training.
Nehemiah Teens (Nehi’s): Offering 13-14 year olds a taste of Christian Service. During this 2 week session, Nehemiah teens study the Biblical truths and principles found in the book of Nehemiah, and are given the opportunity to apply them daily. Nehi's day consists of Bible study, performing routine camp chores and activities.
Counselor in Training (CIT's): Teens age 14-15 are given hands on training in camp ministry. During this 2 week session, CITs learn the importance of a daily quiet time alone with God and the importance and privelage of prayer as they train to become an effective Christian leader. CITs are given hands on training by helping set up various activities and guiding campers in activity transitions.
Leader in Training (LIT's): Trainees, ages 15-17, are prepared to become camp counselors. During this 4 week session, LITs will study discipleship, work closely with the summer staff and campers, and use their gifts and talents to enrich the campers' experience at Fort Lone Tree. LITs reside in the cabins with campers, be given responsibility in assisting the senior cabin counselor in meeting campers' needs, addressing fears, and caring for their well-being. They receive practical activity training through work as activity or as assistants.
